Paiwan tribe Shaman Mortar

Fine example of a small mortar used by a Paiwan tribe shaman to crush herbs and medicinal wood for the preparation of medicine. The mortar is encircled by identical male figures, all squatting with their arms resting on their ankles and wearing traditional headdresses.
