Ancestor Panel from the Paiwan tribes

This weathered panel shows rather crude restorations, likely made by its original owner. It is carved with a noble ancestor in full ceremonial attire, holding a rifle and resting one hand on his knife. He wears a hat topped with eagle feathers — a Paiwan symbol of valor in battle and physical strength — making this ancestor an indomitable, brave, and powerful warrior.
