Pair of Paiwan Tribe Ancestor Panels, likely from Laiyi, carved with two figures—a male and a female. Their eyes, mouth, nipples, and navel are inlaid with porcelain. Their arms and legs are decorated with tribal motifs suggesting tattoos. Both figures wear hats, and the snakes carved above their heads indicate that they were important members of the nobility.

PAIR OF ANCESTOR PANEL FROM PAIWAN TRIBE

This half-moon-shaped chest ornament is made from wood chips of mangosteen, wuzhi (five-finger tree), or persimmon trees, and is traditionally worn by elderly men. Three arc-shaped copper pieces ( oxyded) of varying sizes are attached to the wooden base. The lower edge is adorned with various decorative elements considered beautiful.
