PAIR OF ANCESTOR PANEL FROM PAIWAN TRIBE

Pair of Paiwan Tribe Ancestor Panels, likely from Laiyi, carved with two figures — a male and a female. Their eyes, mouth, nipples, and navel are inlaid with porcelain. Their arms and legs are decorated with tribal motifs suggesting tattoos. Both figures wear hats, and the snakes carved above their heads indicate that they were important members of the nobility.
