Female chest Covering - Puyuma tribe

Until around the age of 13 or 14, girls from Puyuma tribe ( but this kind of shape can be found on Ami tribes too) typically wore a short skirt paired with a long-sleeved, cropped top. As they matured, they began to add a chest covering underneath the top. In contemporary times, women often replace the traditional upper garment with a white shirt or T-shirt, worn beneath the chest covering. However, elder women continue to follow the traditional dress style. The chest covering is crafted in a diamond shape and features intricate embroidery. To wear it, the upper straps are tied behind the neck, while the side straps are crossed at the back and secured at the front of the waist. Due to its length, the fan-shaped lower section of the garment drapes over the abdomen like a pocket.
