Ornement de poitrine masculin – Tribu Yami

This half-moon-shaped chest ornament is made from wood chips of mangosteen, wuzhi (five-finger tree), or persimmon trees, and is traditionally worn by elderly men. Three arc-shaped copper pieces ( oxyded) of varying sizes are attached to the wooden base. The lower edge is adorned with various decorative elements considered beautiful.

Jambières féminines de la tribu Ami

Pair of women’s legging from the Ami tribe, made of pink cotton fabric with orange and black stripes, sewn with ten rows of small bells. The bottom of each piece is adorned with green woolen knots. Such ankle ornaments were worn by women during ceremonies and festivals. This pair is estimated to date from the 1950s.

Couteau « Ipagan » et son fourreau de la tribu Yami (Tao).

‘Ipagan’ Knife and its sheath from the Yami (Tao) tribe. A fine example of the “Ipagan”, a short sword used to exorcise evil spirits but also to harvest. This sword, shorter than the Pararowai model, is notable for having both its handle and sheath carved with wave patterns, triangles, and the figure of the god Magamaog.
